What mower should I buy?

I recently posted a video talking about how you can usually find good deals on lawn mowers this time of year. After posting it, someone asked what kind of mowers we use, or what could we recommend someone purchase….and this is actually a question I get asked A LOT.

To answer the question, we use Toro commercial grade push mowers. However, I would not recommend them for the average homeowner. They are rather expensive, and are way more mowers than the average homeowner needs. We need a mower will than survive being used 5 days a week, 8 hours a day. Homeowners need something to use a few hours once per week.

I can’t speak for all residential grade mowers because I have not used them all, but if I was buying one for myself it would be a Honda.

Way back when we first started VistaTurf and I was mowing the yards myself, we could not afford to buy the more expensive commercial grade mowers.
Although the Hondas do cost a little more, we were able to get quite a bit more life out of them than some of the other brands we tried, and they also had a great cut.

That said, I’m sure many other brands out produce great mowers as long as they are taken care of. But form my experience and if I’m buying, I’m going with Honda every time.
