When it comes to pre emergent, you need to be as precise as possible with your applications. You can go through all the time and money to apply your pre emergent, but if you are not precise with your application rate…it WILL NOT WORK.
That is why we highly recommend going with a liquid application over granular. Liquid applications make it easier to be very precise, and ensure you are getting an even coverage across your lawn. Granular applications leave more room for error with both the application rate AND ensuring you get an even spread across the entire lawn.
Liquid applications also take effect immediately upon completion. Granular applications will not take effect until they are watered in, and after that you still have to wait for the granules to break down and spread to the soil BEFORE they start killing weed seeds.
So our recommendation for pre emergents is hands down liquid over granular. But most importantly of all…get your pre emergents down RIGHT NOW!
