Take a good look at the pictures in this video…anything like that going on in your lawn? If not yours, what about your neighbors? From what we have seen so far…odds are someone very close to you has a chinch bug infestation, or at least chinch bug damage.
This year is quickly becoming one of the worst years for chinch bugs that we have seen. It has been very hot, and very dry…the perfect storm for chinch bugs!
Whether you see signs of damage or not, it is always a good idea to get a chinch bug application down. We do a bifenthrin application for all clients this time of year, regardless of whether chinch bugs are active or not. Bifenthrin (which you can typically find at most garden centers) will kill any active chinch bugs in you lawn, as well as providing 30-45 days of protection from future infestations.
Remember, chinch bugs can destroy a lawn in a matter of days! So get out there asap and get an application down, there is no reason not to!
